Different ways immigrants come to the U.S.

One way of coming to the U.S. is by getting an immigration VISA, but only a handful of people get them and many people can't afford it because they come from poor countries and must find a different way to get here.

There is a mass amount of people that apply to get an immigration VISA. It takes from 6 to 12 months to get it approved. The fee for an application is about $200 to $500. Many immigrants come from poor countries and can’t pay the fee.

Another way immigrants come to the U.S. is in an illegal way and comes in different forms. People come in mass groups seeking asylum in the U.S. from the edge of South America, across rainforests, These groups stop at the border and apply.

Many immigrants are in desperate situations and cross the border illegally. One way they cross the border is by hiding inside trailers

The hardest and most dangerous way people come to the U.S. is by crossing the Sonoran desert or Chihuahuan desert. Many people have crossed it but many others have died attempting to cross it.

Some hide inside the seats of cars.

Some jump over the wall built in the U.S.

Some attempt to get to the U.S. from Cuba by going through the straits of Florida in small boats.

Many risks their lives trying to hop on a train called la Bestia to get to the frontier of Mexico and the US.

Many have died being unknown and forgotten in their journey to the U.S. Many fall into human trafficking and disappear from the world. Immigrants put their lives in danger to come to get to the U.S. They come to the U.S. seeking a better future that their country can’t give to them.
